What are we learning the next weeks:
We start the year with a review of the alphabet and how to combine letters to make syllables.
We focus on a letter or two each week.
We are going to work on words starting with and including the letters:
We also have a theme each week that goes along with the stories we read as a whole group and in small groups. Students are being tested on their reading levels so they can be placed in small groups.
Writing: We are starting with the very basics, such as letter formation and using lines to write neatly. Students will start by writing lists of words, as well as copying sentence starters and creating their own ending
Homework reading:
(The paper books) that we send home on Mondays are the continuation of the topic studied the previous week. It is important to read them every day as these books are familiar to the children and they are an opportunity to reinforce what we learned the previous week. Ask them to read to you, as you read PAKRAT to them.
By creating an expectation of reading, you create a routine to read [something fundamental in this period when they are learning to read].
PLEASE SEND THEM BACK ON FRIDAY TO SWITCH FOR THE NEW ONES

Remember to read a PAKRAT book with your child each night and return it the following day.
